Direct evidence for involvement in specific host-parasite combinations is very sparse, resting on studies of G. fujikuroi on rice, the presence of gibberellin A 1 or A2 in thistles (Circium arvense) infected withPuccinia obtegens (rust) and greatly increased levels of gibberellin-like substances in legume roots inoculated with Rhizobium spp.
