Review
"The destruction. the amount. The cruelty. The allure. The songs. The songs. The songs. To stay with reference to Paul Westerberg’s fabric was once to be lifted…then bent via it. The songs have been that strong. Mehr indicates us that nobody, Westerberg integrated, knew rather what to do with all of it. It used to be underrated, puffed up, obsessed over, ignored—never whatever within the center. yet someplace among the Replacements’ course of destruction, epic yet finally empty, and the sweetness and honesty of Westerberg’s writing, there has been a band, a band whose tale has for too lengthy remained unknown and unknowable. This booklet will get us nearer than we’ve ever been. Mehr brings us one of many nice American rock ‘n’ roll tales and the entire damage that got here with it.”— Warren Zanes, writer of Petty: The Biography and Revolutions in Sound: Warner Bros. files — the 1st Fifty Years
