However, in view of the recent results on the ionization cross sections it now seems natural to assume that the quiet corona has a temperature of about 1500000 OK. The lower temperature found from the meter-wave radio-radiation of the quiet corona may be a consequence of the fact that the corona at meterwaves is a "grey" body: due to the curvature of the ray-paths the optical thickness of the corona does not exceed unity for meter waves.
